Personal Statement:
To me , Dentistry is more than a profession, it is more like a way to make people smile again, be proud of their smile and be happy. Being a dentist is like being an artist, the “smile artist” and at the same time being the doctor that will relieve pain and uncomforted. There is no better feeling than your patient smiling at you with gratitude. That for me is the main reason why I am a dentist and I love my profession.
In the days I was a student on the dental faculty of my college (UNAH) I was able to understand the importance of the communication between patient and doctor, I had the amazing opportunity to work with patients since the very start of my faculty years , I remember one of my first classes that teach me the importance of prevention in oral health so we have to educate the patients of the importance of preventions since early years of my school I was already practicing the communication skills that are indispensable for dentist to have.
In my school, in order for you to graduate , you need to complete a year of “Social Work” consisting of work in a public dental office. In 2017 I was able to complete my “social work” in a small public hospital located in a rural area of the town. I encounter the huge necessity of dental health that my country has. I had the responsibility every day to give small talks about prevention to the patients while they were waiting for services. One of the things I stand out is talking in front of people. I enjoy it and I consider myself good at it. I have to see a minimum of 12 patients per day, I was able to make 357 extractions , 510 fillings, 799 cleanings, and many preventive treatments. Also as part of my training I went to dental brigades in schools and remote areas of the town, I went to a dental Brigade made by the military base and I received recognition from them.
I graduated in 2017 and I started working in a private dental office owned by one of my mentors. She has been my dentist since I was a kid and when I was at school I went every vacation to observe her work and practice on extracted teeth supervised by her. I learn from her compassion, to put yourself in the patient position and to treat the patient the best way possible.

my biggest influence was my dentist Doctor Ana Cardenas. she is being my dentist since I was a little kid. I had a lot of problems with my teeth when I was a kid and my dentist was always sweet and kind with me. thats why I decide to become a dentist and be the dentist you can trust and receive more than a good treatment. also receive kindness, compassion and understanding. I have being in the patient position so I know how it feels.
