In Chapter 2, page 46, the textbook identifies, "The Development of New Media." The textbook identifies 13 New Media organizations (www, smartphones, Yahoo, Wiki, Blogging, Google, Wikipedia, ipod, MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram). Three of these New Media have had the greatest effect on social construction: The www, Blogging, and Facebook.
In a three-page paper, choose one of these 3 and explain how this New Media has socially constructed criminal justice.
For example, police departments have developed websites devoted to police-community relations. Have these become "love your local police department propaganda?" Blogs have supported or attacked police, corrections, and the courts?
Have these blogs been honest or slanted? Facebook has allowed terrorist organizations to communicate with each and recruit unsuspecting young malcontents with individual Facebook pages.
