Learning analytics is said to dehumanize the educational experience. Numbers aren’t enough to dictate what to do. Learning analytics is a “big brother” mentality, welcomed by some and threating to others.

Analytics is used for profiling, and that will bias people’s expectations and behaviors. If learning analytics is used in eLearning environments, online instructors will be expected to become skilled analysts.

If learning analytics are used in eLearning environments, the assessment of learning shifts from final outcomes assessment to in-process assessment, also called embedded assessment.

Does this mean we don’t care about final outcome assessment?
