Write about someone who has experienced grief and loss such as Terry Fox or a residential school survivor.

Reflection paper 2:

This paper requires you to consider a story of grief and loss. For example, you could write about someone who has experienced grief and loss such as Terry Fox or a residential school survivor. What did you learn from this story? How did it impact your thoughts on grief and loss?

Please keep in mind the following when writing your reflective papers: Preparation, introduction, body and conclusion.

Preparation

Preparation is the first key to writing a reflection paper. Organize your ideas into an outline of your paper. Make notes of all the key points you will talk about, and arrange them in a logical order. This will help you stay focused when you write your paper.

Introduction

The introduction of your reflection paper contains the key points you will discuss in the body of the paper. It includes your preconceptions of the subject, and a brief summary of your initial reaction to the subject you are talking about. The final sentence of the introduction sums up your feelings in a thesis statement that outlines the key points you will discuss in the content of the body.

Body

The body of your reflection paper elaborates on your reactions to the subject. Your body paragraphs should be arranged logically according to your outline and introduction paragraph. Each paragraph should flow into the next by building on the ideas you present. Supporting evidence, such as direct quotes from the text on which you are writing, or quotes from secondary sources that discuss the subject may be included. Be sure to properly cite all outside sources.

Conclusion

The conclusion ties together all of the key points discussed in the body paragraphs. It should include a short summary of your concluding feelings on the subject (based on the points and evidence provided) and implications of the key points you made.
