Intervention Letter
Imagine that you have a first degree relative (i.e., mother, father, brother, or sister) who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia. In an effort to cope with your own experience with this family member and the disorder, you have begun participating in individual therapy to learn some effective coping strategies. Your therapist has asked you to write a letter discussing how the disorder has impacted you.
In a two to three page paper, write a letter to the therapist.
The letter should include: Information about the symptoms your family member has displayed, how these symptoms have impacted you/your family, and changes you/your family have made as a result of the diagnosis.
Also discuss the impact of the stigma that you/your have experienced as a result of the diagnosis.
