Assignment outline (1000 words)
There is no set formula for this outline, but the following sections are likely to be useful in terms of developing your writing further for the main assignment. (The word numbers are an approximate indication: you don’t have to stick rigidly to these suggestions.)
Title – How does the self-evaluation of educational institutions contribute to the development of change?
Introduction (about 150 words)
Explain in the introduction why you have chosen this topic and what you will cover in this outline.
Literature (about 500 words)
Identify what literature you intend to read/analyse/critique in relation to your topic. Providing this information can help your tutor to advise you about key texts that you have missed and also whether your proposed reading is overambitious (or inadequate).
Applying theory to practice (about 250 words)
Indicate possible areas of practice which you intend to discuss in the assignment in relation to the literature.
Conclusion (about 100 words)
Although you may not be able to indicate at this stage what your conclusion is likely to be, you may be able to identify your current assumptions and/or what you aim to find out by the time you have finished writing the assignment.
The assignment should demonstrate that you have met the learning outcomes for the module.
Module aims
This module aims to cover a range of themes and concerns in the leadership and management of staff in educational organisations. Drawing on national and international examples, it combines theoretical perspectives with practical concerns about staff leadership, management and development.
