Doctoral Dialogue 5
The synopsis is the same as the one you answered in Doctoral Dialogue 1:
Assume you are a manager in an organization. The organization has a policy stating that employees cannot work overtime unless they receive prior written approval from their supervisor. One Monday morning you see that one of your supervisees has 8 hours of overtime on their time sheet. The employee did not seek the required prior approval but you know the employee worked the extra hours, because you were also in the office that evening to catch up on some work, as the organization is woefully understaffed. Do you sign the time sheet with the overtime hours that were not approved per policy so the employee will get paid for them or not?
