Scenario
In this course, write and create a persuasive essay and presentation on a controversial topic. Imagine that you are trying to persuade someone to see your side of the issue you choose. This could be someone in the workplace, a family member or friend, people on social media, or anyone you might encounter in daily life.
Explore different methods of doing this, both informal and formal. Throughout the session, you will create a proposal, search for credible resources, create video presentations, and write a paper on your chosen topic.
For this exercise, you will be using the provided worksheet to outline your chosen topic. You should be prepared to:
Choose and define the controversial issue you will be exploring
Summarize which side you are taking
Provide three reasons why you choose to argue for your side
Identify possible research issues that may come up
Explain any counterarguments someone may have against your side
Discuss ways that you could dispute that counterargument
