Identify the following steps:
Confirmation of the outbreak. How do you know there is a problem?
Who would you recruit to be on your team?
How would you verify the diagnosis? What is the test? Is it available? (Think about: confirmed positive, suspected, presumed etc if applicable)
Define your case definition. (Components: Person, Place, Time (based on incubation if known), Clinical symptoms, lab results, define population at risk.
What kind of study would you use to monitor the outbreak?
Generate a hypothesis about the outbreak.
