ODNI and Accountability
Question:
Executive Order 12333, United States Intelligence Activities is the executive order that directs the IC’s authority to conduct Intelligence activities. The ODNI is the IC’s lead for Intelligence oversight. The Office of General Counsel, the IC Inspector General, and the Office of Civil Liberties, Privacy and Transparency all have delegated responsibilities to ensure that ODNI is in accordance with the Constitution and other laws, regulations, executive orders and directives or policies.
The lectures, readings and discussions over the last six weeks have been directly related to IC leadership.
Prepare a critical function of leadership is oversight and accountability, and one of the primary reasons that ODNI was established.
In his role as the facilitator of IC oversight, does the DNI have an increasing leadership role in providing top cover for the IC in dealing with an increasingly complicated Congress that has become more polarized and partisan?
