Discussion
Imagine yourself taking a field trip to your favorite park or natural area – whether you have been there or not.
Describe the geological features including rock types, landforms, etc.
Research the geologic past of this area and describe how the rocks and geomorphological features were formed. Then describe what geological feature(s) interests you about the location.
Insert at least one photo and a map of the chosen location.
Make sure you provide geological content in your post, that is, do not simply describe what you like about it but provide actual geological information about the site. Be sure to show that you have considered relevant geologic processes shaping the site and apply what you have learned in the course in your field trip discussion.
Be sure to cite your sources of information. Consult at least two different sources when researching your study area.
Use legitimate sources, not kids’ sites, tourism sites, or non-academic personal websites about specific areas. To research the geology of your selected area, look for academic resources about geology in specific areas or governmental sites about an area where the USGS or NPS has compiled scientific information about the area.
