In this project, investigate the level of current knowledge of nurses and nurses assistants in the inpatient rehabilitation unit regarding preventing pressure injuries along with their knowledge about the Skin, Wound, and Pressure Injury Protocol developed by Cheshire Medical Center.
Title of Project: Develop an Educational Tool for Registered Nurses Caring for Newly Diagnosed Diabetic Patients.
Description of Research Project: The purpose of this project is to educate registered nurses working at the Veterans Administration clinic in Bennington, Vermont. It will use evidenced–based interventions for the care of newly diagnosed diabetics. The project will use Methodological research design. Using the Veterans Administration’s Knowledge library to access allied health and nursing databases, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, EBSCO, CINAHL, ACCESS, Nursing and Allied Health Data Base, Health Policy Reference Center, and Medline Complete. An extensive literary review of the topic will be performed.
The following key words will be used to search the literature: new diabetic, diabetic education, diabetic education tools, new diabetic patient concerns, Medical complications in new diabetics. Articles will be selected if they meet the following criteria: no older than five years, are evidence–based and pear reviewed and are retrieved from a scholarly data base and will be excluded if they do not meet these standards. In this project eight to ten high–quality, peer reviewed research articles on the topic from a variety of credible sources is the goal. Data collected from these research sources will be used to create an educational tool to guide registered nurses in the Bennington, Vermont Veterans Administration clinic when caring for newly diagnose diabetic patients.
