Internet searching, evaluating websites
This week, we are learning how to critically evaluate information on the Internet to distinguish the good from the bad. In this assignment, you will put those skills to work. (USLO 6.3)
For this assignment, you’ll do three things.
First, investigate each of the resources below. Then, use the CRAAP Test to evaluate the validity of each source for academic research.
“Outbreak of Lung Injury Associated with the Use of e-Cigarette, or Vaping, Products”
“How Bad is Vaping for You? Here’s What You Need to Know”
“Vaping vs. Smoking: Is Vaping Bad for You, Too?”
In a Word document, write an APA citation for each of the three articles.
Then, beneath each citation, write a brief paragraph that answers the following questions:
Write an APA citation for the webpage you investigated at the top of the page.
What did the site score on the CRAAP test?
Would you use it for your research? Why or why not?
What was problematic about it (or, on the other hand, what made you think this would be a good site)?
