I would like to use homelessness as the social injustice. Here are some ideas I thought of. I currently work in DC for a core service community mental health agency as a caseworker.
Homelessness as an injustice addresses things like poverty, lack of affordable housing, being ostracized by society as a result of homelessness.
generational homelessness leading to several youth being homeless (when I say generational, I mean parents are homeless so their young adults kids also end up being homeless and it perpetuates the cycle of in this injustice)
DC housing market rates are significantly high and unaffordable for poor and unemployed mentally ill clients, thereby perpetuating homelessness
Shelters are un hygienic or not always habitable and sometimes unsafe due to physical assaults, robberies, sexual assaults thereby deterring homeless person to turn to shelters for long term housing supports
Possible solutions
Homeless Shelters hygiene standards re-valuated
Increase affordable housing accessibility for the homeless
increase employment supports for homeless population to increase ability
