Thus far during our semester, you have learned and practiced many basic counseling skills and techniques.
You will now have the opportunity to create a fictional dialogue between a client and clinician. You may choose to use your “character” from our role plays or not, it’s up to you.
You are to write a 5-page minimum paper a fictional, imaginative dialogue between a client and clinician.
Choose a mild to moderate issue to discuss no dramatics .
At the end of each clinician statement, question or reflection, you must identify which skill/technique was used for that statement, question etc..
You may need to review some of the concepts in our textbook in order to complete this assignment. Do not use lots of spacing between dialogues; your paper should be formatted similar to this example:
Clinician: “I’m hearing confusion and concern in your voice” (reflection of feeling)
Clinician: “What do you recall most vividly about the dream last night”? (open question)
You can choose to write something real or realism, but do not choose something too upsetting to you. Indicate in your writing at the beginning or end if you are writing about something REAL to you (for information while responding to your paper)
