Conflict in a Society and Individuals
Literary writings are essential materials for the upkeep of norms and condemnation of evil in a community. Conventionally, the purpose of literary work is to ensure that it illuminates to individuals and society on the ongoing vices and challenges.
Authors in all stances seek to communicate their mind and their views in society matters through the use of themes. The use of different characters and character traits help the writers to build up the main ideas of literary work. Similarly, the application of suitable styles and language help express the clarity of the major ideas of the authors in various aspects. It is the same case with Junot Diaz in the short story “Wildwood”.
Diaz uses the different female character to develop major themes in the story and explores the viewpoint of the American society. The exploration helps the writer to depict the situation in the community concerning the females and immigrants. It dawns that the culture is obsessed with leadership through power or authority. In this tone, the writer seeks to bring out the approaches employed by female characters to get their way into power.
They choose to use their body in a sexual manner so they can win power. In this light, the writer explores different kinds of conflict witnessed in society and created a contrast to the real outcome that everyone in society would expect.
