Effective Solutions to Increase the College Graduation Rates of Low-Income Students

Introduction – The purpose of this chapter is to summarize the collected data, how it was analyzed and then to present the results. This section provides an overview of the main contents and sections of the results.

You will establish your perspective for analyzing the data and explain the organization of the rest of the chapter.

Results – This section discusses the findings relative to the research question and any relative sub-questions that have indirectly addressed the grand tour question to be investigated in the study.

This section of Chapter 4 begins with the descriptive data, which provides a narrative summary of the population or sample characteristics and demographics of the participants in the study.

It establishes the number of subjects, gender, age, education level or employee classification, (if appropriate), organization, or setting (if appropriate), and other appropriate sample characteristics (e.g., education level, program of study, employee classification, etc.).

The next portion should include the actual data analysis procedures used for analyzing the data, such as a description of the coding process, and how codes were developed into themes by using examples of codes and themes.

Tables & Figures – Tables and figures are included to enhance communication of results in a clear, concise manner. The use of graphic organizers, such as tables, charts, histograms and graphs to provide further clarification and promote readability, is encouraged to organize and present coded data.

Required components include descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics describe or summarize data sets using frequency distributions or graphical displays such as bar graphs, as well as histograms, line graphs, and scatterplots.
