Discussion of sociological theories and their usefulness.
Sociologists developed sociological theories to explain social phenomena like patterns, events, and interactions in society. According to Alan Sica, sociological theories are proposed explanations of such social interactions in different scales (1).
Conflict theory and structural functionalism are examples of macro-level theories that explain society’s operation (Sica, 2).
On the other hand, micro-level sociological theories center on the interaction between people (Sica, 2). Accordingly, the objective of this essay is to explain various sociological theories and their usefulness.
Sociological theories are useful paradigms for describing reasons for the existing social occurrences by studying social phenomena as the similarities and differences between structural-functional, conflict, and symbolic interactionism theories show.
