Discuss = This is a written debate. You will use skills of reasoning, backed up by evidence. The aim is to make a case for and against an argument, or point out the advantages and disadvantages of a given context. Remember to arrive at a conclusion.
Write a MA level 3500 word essay illustrating your analytical abilities. Just as you write your essay, keep the following general advice in mind:
Your introduction should do a lot of work for your essay; this is where you frame your answer to the question and explain how you are going to build that answer. It is not enough to just provide a general context and then list the issues you are going to cover. You have to say what the academic debates are and where you stand in relation to them. Mention the key literature you will draw on for your essay (a mini literature review). Try to think of the introduction as the roadmap to your answer. This is where you also explain your selection of the factors you are going to examine, if you think there are too many to cover in only 3,500 words.
