find below an attendance note and email from client. Assuming the role of a newly qualified solicitor, Sam Bloggs (in the firm of Pemberton Solicitors, Pemberton House, Bradford Street, Bradford BD1 8XT) you are asked to complete the following tasks:
1. Your supervising partner, Aisha Mohammed, had a meeting with a John Williams who provided instructions on preparation of a will. Draft a will disposing of the estate of John Williams taking account of the information you are given in the attendance note prepared by Aisha.
2. Prepare a letter to John enclosing the draft will. Explain the meaning of the different clauses and why you have included them referring to the instructions. Your letter should include advice on inheritance tax as requested by the client together with any additional advice you may deem appropriate. Please be aware that it is your job to write the letter in a concise and uncomplicated style which he will understand.
3. The client has signed the will and the firm’s instructions in that regard are complete. Aisha then receives an email from the client and asks you to prepare a response to his email. Your email should be simple and uncomplicated.
You can however use footnotes to refer to any case law or statute you have relied on as authority for your advice for the purposes of the assessment.
