OPTION 1: Develop an argument for the particularity of a poet’s style by comparing and contrasting at least two poems by the same author.

choose a poet we’ve read in this course. You may also choose a poet we’ll read later in the course, if you wish. Since we’ve typically read only one poem by each poet, this means that you’ll probably have to find and read a few more poems by the poet you’re writing about.
Read as many as you can and pick at least two to analyze, though you may use more. But take caution: best to analyze fewer poems, and analyze more about fewer texts.]
REQUIREMENTS
4–6 pages in MLA format (12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced, 1-in. margins, page count doesn’t include Works Cited).
Separate Works Cited page with every poem used listed in MLA format.
Multiple analytical body paragraphs that quote the poem(s) directly, cite each quotation in MLA format with line numbers, and analyze the textual evidence through close reading.
Clear introductory paragraph that gives brief background, summary of poem, and states thesis (argument); and concluding paragraph. (Hint: write the introduction last, not first).
Some specific, unified argument (not a fact!) about the text(s) you’re analyzing.
