Assessment One:
Portfolio
Students will be required to produce a Professional Practice portfolio excluding appendices or supporting documentation. The portfolio should include:
1-A description of the context within which week the work in an educational and care setting was carried out and any particular reasons influencing their choice of placement
2- An on-going summary in the form of a combination of a learning and observation journal, activities and critical reflections
3-Details of any practical activities initiated by you, together with a commentary on any outcomes and how these were measured
4-The development of a particular focus on an aspect of the educational or care process specially selected by you and how this might relate to published sources
5-Commentary or explanation of the research relevant to an aspect of the student’s professional role
6-A concluding section in which the period of work and placement is reviewed and evaluated, indicating, in summary form, the main insights acquired during the year.
7-A comprehensive bibliography which includes details of all resources and sources of information
LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Critically evaluate and apply significant and emerging theories and principles that underpin management competence, professional practice, effective communication and continuous improvement
2. Review information and facts relating to individual setting and plan strategically
3. Discuss the role of reflective practice and interpersonal skills within a childcare, Education, or social Care setting.
4. Explore and review the ‘interpersonal skills’ aspects of leadership and management
5. Demonstrate an in depth knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of the professional working in effective children’s services
