“Realists pursue their interests by favoring the virtues of power and security. It is therefore assumed that military might is used to advance the interests of states. It is important to know that realism does not simply rely on military options. States can pursue their national interest or foreign policy objectives by imposing economic sanctions. After all, this is an international tool used against Russia that is seen as hostile and adversarial. Of course, realists have not abandoned diplomatic channels because they know that human costs can be reduced when states do not rely solely on military force. How would you react to this position?”
