You are required to write a 5-page research paper that answers the following questions:
Imagine a 22-year-old male (or female) offender named Mike (or Mikela) with a history of drug abuse and joblessness who has three previous convictions for burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and who has been most recently convicted of armed robbery of a convenience store.
Of the five goals/justifications of criminal punishment discussed in the course, deterrence, retribution, rehabilitation, incapacitation, and restoration (can also include the goal of reintegration instead of restoration if you prefer), explain which goal/goals you believe should be pursued by the criminal justice system and why.
Explain your answer by providing supporting evidence for goals that should be pursued and evidence against goals you believe should not be pursued. Cite all relevant concepts and sources discussed in the course.

Include at least four (4) additional academic sources (journal articles or books) besides the class readings. You should have minimum 1 academic source per justification of punishment. These additional sources cannot be textbooks
