What was the overall topic of your research essay? Given that it was persuasive, what did you want your readers to believe, think, or do after reading your essay?
My research topic was on homesteading and the benefits of creating a homestead. The purpose of my research was to show to others that it is possible to make a living from homesteading. It is possible to quit your job and to work from home while also living a happier and healthier lifestyle. Growing your own food prevents the added pesticides from entering your body, raising your own animals prevents the hormone treatments from affecting your personal hormones, selling the products that you make yourself can lead to your own business and with that tax write-offs are all potential benefits.
What workplace or organizational problem does your essay topic solve? What would be the significance of solving this problem?
Homesteading can help solve problems with hormonal balance issues and help bring you closer to yourself and your family. It can lead to improved mental and physical strength, and you can enjoy it all the same.
What recommendation or solution are you making to the company or organization? Be as specific as possible and explain how it solves the problem you identified above.
I recommend to those thinking about gardening or raising animals or both, just do it. Start your own garden if you can. You will love the feeling of picking your first vegetable from your own garden. Doing this gives you the sense of accomplishment which is often missed when working somewhere that has no goal other than making money. What you learn along the way is also invaluable when it comes to straying from the normal of society.
What evidence do you have from your academic essay that will help you present your proposal to your intended reader?
My studies showed that pesticides and specific products, like beauty and cookwear products, are known to cause things like hormaonal imbalance and health problems. The research concluded that you could grow your own food and make your own supplies that are healthier for you and the environment. You could also sustain this lifestyle from the business you can create and the benefits of owning a small business.
Who is the intended reader of your proposal? What do you know about this person? How does what you know influence how and what you will write in your proposal?
My intended reader for this proposal is for those that are tired of the city lifestyle or living close to your neighbors in the suburbs. I know that people are scared to change their lifestyle because they know that what they are doing now is working for them. It is about living off the land and enjoying the feeling you get from being close to nature and your family.

My research paper presented supporting evidence of the need to provide (psychological) developmental education to teenagers/junior high students. My research is intended to convince the reader that teenagers have a steep physical, mental, and social development curve. This curve includes social peer pressure as well. The goal of presenting my support topics was to impress upon the reader the vital need to educate our youth about the physical and psychological changes they will experience during their teenage years. The primary supporting evidence includes the following:
CDC 2020 Teen suicide rate.
Evidence of mental health improvement due to in-school programs/studies.
Evidence of increased mental health scores contributed to group and family therapy.
Suicide rate statistics alone should prove the behavioral and emotional struggles teens face. But the improved mental health and stability obtained by students in in-school programs and counseling support the call for increased education through additional psychological and physical development programs. The proposed request is to identify and allocate funding for developing suitable curricula, training educators in the curriculum, and instituting school programs as part of a comprehensive health program.
Several of the references in my research paper will help provide information for the proposal. The CDC information alone sets a tone, but the following references offer more expansive support. While there may be room for additional resources to help prove the point, these three will carry and support most of the argument:
CMHA (2014). Mental illnesses in children and youth. Heretohelp. https://www.heretohelp.bc.ca/sites/default/files/mental-illnesses-in-children-and-youth.pdfLinks to an external site.
Hu, S., & Cai, D. (2023). Development of perceived family support and positive mental health in junior high school students: A three-year longitudinal study. Journal of Early Adolescence, 43(2), 216–243. https://doi.org/10.1177/02724316221101534Links to an external site.
Mori, R., Uchino, T., Mizuno, M., Yamaguchi, T., Katagiri, N., & Nemoto, T. (2022). Effectiveness of a comprehensive mental health literacy educational programme for junior high school students: A randomised controlled trial examining changes in their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviour. Journal of Personalized Medicine, 12(8), 1281. https://doi.org/10.3390/jpm12081281Links to an external site.
While my proposal will be written as though it were being delivered to a school district superintendent, it would be suitable for parent-teacher organizations and local/state-level legislative members. The funding request will not be based on actual, known financial needs but rather an instigation to establish committees and action groups to begin identifying the needs, assigning fiscal values, and establishing timelines for implementation.

Amanda response

The topic of my research essay was antibiotic resistance and the factors surrounding its irreparable damage. The goal of my writing was to inform my readers of all the facts of this topic and to present the reader with the argument that if antibiotics continue to be abused, they will no longer be useful. During my research, I found ways to prevent this, which I will present in this proposal. I touched on those preventions a little in my essay although in my proposal I will expand on them. They include the following…
Monitoring of antibiotic use in healthcare and agriculture. (This will track the usage and monitor for abuse)
Developing new testing methods. (Provide doctors with the ability to properly prescribe)
Educating doctors on proper prescribing. (Will decrease the number of unnecessary antibiotics prescribed)
Educating the public on the misuse of antibiotics. (Education is the key to understanding)
Enlightening farmers on infection control and proper antibiotic use in animals. (Learning the best techniques will prevent infection and the need for those necessary antibiotics)
These preventions may not fix the problem, but they may slow it. I plan to use these preventions to make a proposal that will be geared toward a large audience. Each one of these preventions has a different group of people it is focused on. One portion is focused on doctors, another on farmers, and another on the general public. One method is even geared toward scientists. For me to develop a proposal that will hit all these topics, I will need to generalize it to make it so that everyone that reads it will benefit from it. Not just one group. I plan to go into much more detail with each of these in my proposal. During the research of my essay, I came across many great sources of information that I was able to utilize. I plan to use those and look into a few more. The CDC has great resources for the prevention of this crisis so I will be looking into using that as a source for my proposal. I am still looking into those for my proposal, so I do not have any to post specifically today.
