Below are my answers to the questions:
1. Yes, it is possible to have marketing efforts without the primary goal of making a sale. Marketing covers a wide range of activities aimed at promoting a product, service, or brand and increasing its visibility and awareness among potential customers. One reason could be increasing credibility and reputation, but not sales. However, marketing efforts without a clear sales goal can be difficult to measure, may divert resources from other business objectives, and may not produce immediate results (Norton, 2017).
2. It is possible to have a sale without the use of marketing, but it would be difficult to achieve sustained success or growth without some form of marketing. This is due to the fact that marketing plays a critical role in creating awareness of a product or service, generating interest among potential customers, and ultimately driving sales. The sales process can be facilitated by marketing through various tactics such as content marketing, email marketing, and campaigns (Callihan, 2017).
3. I believe that sales and marketing can exist without each other but it would be really difficult for a business. This is because sales and marketing are highly interconnected, and it would be challenging for one to function effectively without the other. Even though they have different roles within a business, they collaborate closely to attain shared objectives (Heinz, 2015).
4. Lastly, I believe that I would spend my marketing budget based on the need of my business. If I am just starting, I would focus on attracting new customers. However, if my company already has a loyal customer base and wants to maximize revenue from existing customers, it may be more appropriate to focus the budget on retention efforts. Thus, unique circumstances and growth goals must be considered when making decisions for choosing either approach.

Hi Class,
From a marketing manager, the feeling is that the marketing department develops strong products with a lot of thought and effort. They do their research and create visually appealing messages to be sent to the market- all in the spirit of creating value and earning margin.
Can you have marketing without the goal of a sale?
Marketing without sales is dead. Marketing is faith and sales is work.
Can you have a sale without the use of marketing?
Without marketing, the product or service is not being pushed to the world. You can be sitting on a great product, but without marketing, no one will see it. This will result in no sales.
Can these areas exist without one another?
No because they need one another for success.
Finally, where or how would you spend your marketing budget? Would you focus on attracting new customers, or retaining current customers? What various factors would play a role in your decision-making for choosing either approach? Explain.
I would focus on existing customers and spend strategically on social media and SEO. A little help is always needed, so I would look for sponsorships opportunities.
