Brainstorm and write down at least 15 uses for each of the following objects: a chair, a screwdriver; an ice cream scoop. Review your lists and consider the following:
Look at the first uses you wrote for each object. Are those relatively common uses such as sitting for the chair, putting in or removing screws for the screw driver, or scooping ice cream for the ice cream scoop?
What about the uses later in the list? Were those more difficult to generate? How did you come up with them?
What evidence for functional fixedness did you find?
