To measure your foot length, stand on a sheet of paper (with no shoes, of course). Place the spine of a book so that it touches your longest toe and make sure it is oriented perpendicular to the length of your foot.
Draw a line on the paper all along that spine. Now do the same against your heal. You should now have two parallel lines on the paper describing the length of your foot. Measure the perpendicular distance between those lines.
