Write that first welcoming email or newsletter. What should you say?

ASSIGNMENT

In last week’s assignment you created an ad to attract searchers to your website and offer. For this part of the assignment, pretend someone clicked on your ad, arrived at your website and registered to receive emails from your site. Assume you are able to send a special welcome email/newsletter to new registrants. Take this seriously because it is one of the eMarketing methods that you can use in any size company with a reasonable cost. It can be the only item in your eMarketing strategy and still have benefits.

On the discussion board, write that first welcoming email or newsletter. What should you say? That’s a good question and there isn’t a “black or white” answer. Take a look at the recommended articles and find some on your own. Check out the suggestions at Constant Contact, iContact, Mail Chimp, etc. Also, MarketingProfs, Marketing Sherpa and other marketing sites have ideas too.

For the fun of it (not required):
1) Register for free at Constant Contact. You will get a 60-day trial and no credit card is required, or even requested. Registration gives you access to real email templates that you can use for this assignment. After you create your email with the template, you can send a test message to yourself to see how it looks. Once you are satisfied with the email you have created, you can copy and paste the whole thing into the discussion board. Blackboard recognizes HTML so the email you copy into the discussion board should look like the original that was done in Constant Contact.

2) Another way to create a non-text email is to use an HTML template. If you search for “free email templates” or “free newsletter templates” there will be plenty to choose from. Use this method if you know how to use these in an HTML editor.
