Assignment 1
Locate an article in a magazine, newspaper, professional journal or online.
The article should relate to an issue which impacts on the parent-child relationship and the development of the child (ex. teen sex, drug/alcohol use, divorce, etc). It should not concern a formal psychological disorder such as ADHD.
Describe in detail the issue upon which the article is based. Indicate how a psychologist might research that article on a local level and then, explain how you would “control” (reduce or eliminate) the negative impact of the issue involved.
Each of these questions relate to the “goals” of psychology as (describe, explain (research), predict, control).
You should submit your review via this Blackboard site and it should be approximately five paragraphs. Be detailed and utilize theories and examples that you might find in the text, in class or from your own experience.
