Prompt 1: Critical Reading Analysis and Dialogue
In response to this week’s readings:
Identify some of the key or critical themes or ideas pertaining to the reading.
Discuss the implications for your learning and your teaching pedagogy (try to give specific example of how the ideas apply to your teaching practices and your teaching philosophy)
Pose additional thoughts, ideas, contradictions, etc.
Pose 1-2 discussion questions to your classmates that will generate further dialogue (focused on the reading or related concepts/topics).
Prompt 2: Language Acquisitions Theories

Dr. Krashen (in Week 2 learning activities), answer the following questions:
Discuss 1 theory of second language acquisition that make the most sense to you.
Describe the theory and explain how you would apply the primary concepts of that theory to your own teaching.
Describe what a classroom that is student-centered and addresses the needs of all learners, including EL students, looks like (in terms of practices, activities, classroom layout, etc.). What would be the teacher’s role(s) and what would be the students’ role(s) in that classroom?
What kinds of activities would the students be engaged in as they learned the content and met the ELD standards? Be sure to refer to 1-2 specific ELD standards in your response.
