A child asks you very politely why the sky appears blue on a bright and sunny day. What would you say to him or her? They then go on to ask about why the sunset appears red when it normally looks white when it is high in the sky. Do your best to explain both of these phenomenon, using physics terms and vocabulary in your explanation.
What makes diamonds and their cut special in the way that they shine and sparkle? How is light affected as it moves from air through the diamond and back out into the air? If someone submerges their diamond ring in water, will it sparkle more or less or the same, and why?
What was the most interesting and useful thing you learned in lab 17 that helped you understand everyday life better? (i.e. Did you have a “Eureka!” moment while working through the material?)
