Persuasive Communication
The following questions should be answered in a short essay format with a clear introduction, main body paragraphs, and conclusion. Headings for each section can help organize content. The recommended length for each question is a minimum of 250 words but no more than 500 to 700 words.
Part A) Who is the ancient Greek Philosopher that created the three elements of persuasive communication that are still relevant today? Define the elements and why they work effectively in tandem.
Part B) Choose a company, brand, or public figure (not one you completed for the in-class presentations) and one of its campaigns. Explain the campaign’s use of the three elements of persuasive communication.
Write a persuasive essay using the persuasive presentation content that you delivered in class. Who are the target audiences of your persuasive essay, and how could you reach them? Think about organizations that could support disseminating the essay or repurposing its content (e.g., videos or in writing). What are the recommended modes of communication (e.g., social media, e-newsletters, media, company’s website) for sharing the essay? Name a spokesperson that could deliver the content to maximize its reach and resonance.
White Paper Analysis – Identify the organization that commissioned the study, the year of the study, target audience/s, summarize the key insights of the study, commend and/or critique the study and discuss its potential bias and limitations, and state your position on if it establishes the commissioning organization as a thought-leader.
