Responding to a post week2 NR-532
Prepare a respond paper to the discussion classmate post below.
Classmate post: Top three dissatisfiers at my job are burnout, receiving little support for advancing studies and over authoritative leaders. Extreme socio-emotional stress brought on by workplace hostility may result in psychological distress. Being exposed to aggressiveness and violence at work may seriously harm healthcare workers’ mental health, including signs of PTSD, depression, and burnout (Vincent-Höper et al., 2020). I categorize this as not control or influence as burnout is, in most cases, caused by overbearing administrative using authority to overwork staff causing much added stress. This is out of our control and the only thing we can do is try to talk to the administrative directly causing the dissatisfier and state our complaint. Receiving little support for educational advancement is also another dissatisfier. I would categorize this as not control or influence as we have no control in these matters and it’s just the management using their virtue of position. My last dissatisfier are over authoritative leaders. Autocratic leaders, whether they practice micromanaging or authoritarian leadership, use sanctions and penalties to make sure that the rules are followed. Nurses are kept in the dark by autocratic leaders in an effort to hold onto power. Leaders point the finger onto individuals rather than a flawed procedure when mistakes are made.
Strategies to address each dissatisfier
Engaging in healthful activities is frequently one of the best methods to combat inevitable burnout. These consist of: Keeping a balanced diet: Stress eating is a real issue that should be avoided in favor of providing your body with the nutrition and fluids that it needs. Exercise: Aerobic exercise is widely known for its capacity to reduce stress by elevating endorphin production while lowering adrenaline and cortisol levels. Taking time to relax and clear your thoughts is important, whether it’s five minutes during a shift to take deep breaths or a night out with friends after work. Each of these should be taken into account both at work and in your free time since they may maintain your mind sharp, your body powerful, and your emotions at ease. Strategies for healthcare organizations needing to provide support for staff continuing education is through speaking to your head nurse or CNO about the situation and talk through things. When communicating, be sure to always listen and be respectful of what they have to say. This way they also reciprocate the same when you discuss issues you have as well. Being hostile will do more harm the good. The best strategy to deal with authoritative leaders is to simply by communicating to them in healthy way in a way that is not hurtful to them, but will let them know that their way of taking charge is not a good way to take lead. Overall the common solution to problems is through effective communication and addressing the problem directly.
