In addressing quality in a work setting, Foster (2016) explained that customers and producers view quality management differently. Two different quality perspectives will derive from a focus on production or services. According to Foster, the definition of quality will vary for different organizations. The different functional perspectives will form the basis for aligning strategies and improving the quality of communication. Within the field of quality fundamental areas of quality control, assurance, and management will focus on different quality aspects. Quality improvement requires a complex mix of systems design, organizational design, rewards design, and process design.
Ephesians 5:1-21 presents quality implications as it lifts the lifestyle of Christ-followers to a level of excellence as the Christians adhere to the principles outlined in these verses. A reflection on Ephesians 5:1-21 challenges Christ-followers in their relationships among family, church, friends, co-workers, and the community. Graham (2011) noted that Ephesians 5:1-21 highlights how Christians should conduct themselves daily. These verses admonish Christians to walk in love, light, and wisdom. Nelson (2014) likewise chided that believers should imitate God (5:1), walk in love (5:2), find out what is acceptable to the Lord (5:10), make the most of our time (5:16), be filled with the Spirit (5:18), and submit to one another (5:21).
Peter also addressed some quality implications from a Christian perspective and challenged readers to spiritual productivity. 2 Peter 1:3 noted that the Lord had given His children all required for life and godliness. Adams (2011) argued that the quality control question is, “How have Christians used the amazing resources God has provided, including all the promises in the Bible?” Consequently, when children of God live Christ-like lives in various settings and relationships, quality will improve as the application of the Word transform Christians to a continued state of being better than they were before.
