The scenario that we are working with this semester is to imagine you have just been employed by an organization of your choice, and one of your first tasks over the first three months is to write a policy discussion paper for the organization to inform their future work.

In the first assignment, the Issues Paper, outline which organization you are writing for, what topic you would be writing about, and some of the key issues that you thought the organization should be informed about.

For this final assignment, the Policy Discussion Paper must incorporate the feedback you have received along the way. Remember, in our scenario, the paper you are writing is for an internal audience and is intended to guide the organization’s thinking on your topic.

It is recommended you use subheadings throughout to improve readability, including:

Title page – include your name, the subject, the name of the organization, and your topic

Consultation – include a brief statement (around 200 words) describing how you sought feedback while researching, writing, and presenting and how you incorporated the advice you received in order to improve the quality of your work

Introduction – provides an overview of the key features of your report, including the organization, your topic and explain how this topic relates to the organization’s work

Section headings – use headings throughout the body of your report to organize your research and analysis

Conclusion – bring together your key findings and explain clearly what you think the implications are for your organization, including specific recommendations or questions that need further research or consideration within the organization

References – provide details of all your sources, including at least 12 scholarly sources (which may be a mix of academic publications and research reports produced by reputable organizations)
