Read the Passage
Forgiveness is both a process and decision since it takes time to adjust to what exactly is happening, as well as choosing to accept the apology. When it comes to having someone decide on whether they should forgive or not, it takes a lot to consider. It takes an incredible amount of effort to forgive someone since this creates challenges since you would have to be within reach of the harmful person.
For one to decide on forgiving another they would have to start with the thought process of what type of goals that can create resolution from this conflict. (Restoration of interpersonal relationships). The power of language involves the act of “do” in order to sense a change in reality. Another highlight would be to be included communication. Most importantly, timing has a lot to do with forgiving just as much as the selective choice of words (Hocker, et. al., 2022).
I would say a lack of forgiveness had impacted my life more than anything since there is no closure or effort to rekindle things for the better. I personally think that this causes a bad habit that they can continue with their harmful actions in the long run.
Some things that I found important about forgiveness would be that it really does factor into the effort. If one were to put a tremendous amount of effort into their apology, I would then rethink the situation. Regarding their selective choice of words and how they will act to show they mean what they say. I also learned that communication is such an important factor when it comes to forgiveness, listening to one another regarding the situation can help insanely. Especially, how sincere their words are and how they will offer to make up for their harmful actions. Most interestingly I learned how the truth can be a great ordeal of help when it comes to moving forward constructively. Speaking the truth falls under all conflict resolutions- meaning the truth can set you free- in a sense. When it comes to how I will apply this in my life, I will put value into my words and give it my all to truly mean what I say and put in the hard effort for the other person to forgive me. I would do whatever I can to help rebuild and recover the relationship by any means.
