QUIPs: This stands for Questions, (Mis)Understandings, Issues, Problems that you encountered as you engaged with the assigned text.
Develop your own interpretations of our texts and to support your arguments with close reading, i.e. the careful analysis of how the details of a text’s language and form shape its meaning.
Produce 1 page of critical, analytical QUIPs; do not address each element of the acronym.
Pick either a question, an understanding or misunderstanding, issue or problem that you had as you read and fully analyze and elaborate upon it.
If you have a question, attempt to answer it; if there is an issue or problem, attempt to solve it in your writings. Another crucial reason for QUIPs is that these responses will guide our classroom discussions.
