Nursing has always been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember and my interest has gone greater as I am finishing up my Public Health degree at Georgia State University. Some of the things I value the most about the Emory Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing is their community, learning experiences, and opportunities that they give their students to become exceptional nurses in the field. They also takes a collaborative approach with their students and faculty to make the nursing community feel like family and with everything going on in healthcare and the nursing shortage I feel like collaboration and support is key in a nursing program and Emory offers beyond that for their students. Being a student in the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing would be the start of my nursing career and knowing that being a part of this program comes with supportive environment makes me confident that I will become an extraordinary nurse.( mention global health if have space). The MN pathway to MSN will allow me to receive my RN license in 15 months then transition into a family nurse practitioner student in the MSN portion of the program. I am very passion about health equity and health promotion especially in minority communities where health disparities can take the most effect on a population. Health equity is a chance to increase opportunities for everyone in the population regardless of their origin. There are many large health gaps in the nation that are increasing and the main takeaways from these certain population that are suffering are their socioeconomic status, race, and other social and economic factors that play a huge part as well. My goal as a future FNP is to break those barriers that reinforces health inequalities by delivering high- quality care, partner and build long term relationships with patients and as well as promote wellness and prevention across the lifespan.
