Final Project: Simulated Hearing Loss Scenario Assignment
Purpose: To give yourself a temporary CHL (conductive hearing loss) so that you can obtain an idea of how it feels to have a temporary HL (hearing loss)
Place ear plugs in BOTH ears and listen to speech in the following 4 situations:
Have at least a 10 to 15 minute conversation on the telephone
Watch television or videos on the internet for at least 30 minutes
Have a 10 to 15 minute conversation with someone in another room or with the television on in the same room at a level where you can hear the speech of the actors/actresses
Have a 10 to 15 conversation with someone in a noisy situation (i.e. at a family dinner)
Write a 1-2 page paper, double spaced, size 12 times new roman font
Discuss the following:
Describe your 4 situations
Describe how you felt in each of the 4 situations
Describe how you were able to hear in each of the 4 situations
Describe how your conversation partner(s) reacted to you in any of the situations that involved a conversation partner(s)
