“As you read a written work, the views of others, the experiences they relate, and the information they present often deepen your understanding of yourself, your relationships, and your surroundings. In turn, this broadened perspective can supply you with writing ideas” (Reinking and von der Osten 30). I-Search Paper Objective: To produce a narrative reflection of your reading and writing experiences, which will demonstrate your growth thus far as a scholarly researcher.
I-Search Paper Guidelines: Apply the Narration concepts from Chapter 8 as you plan your essay guided by the ideas from the I-Search Paper discussion guidelines linked above and develop your story emphasizing what you learned about yourself while reading and writing about our Science and Technology resources.
Revisit the discussion you posted at the beginning of the course to recall your initial thoughts about yourself as a critical college researcher exploring the “science and technology” theme.
Brainstorm ideas about yourself then and now. Download.Explore the changes in your critical view developed from “your relationships and your surroundings” while reading (Reinking and von der Osten 30).
Develop an introductory paragraph ending with a main statement based on the Narrative Purpose as explained in SFSW Chapter 8.
Develop at least three supporting paragraphs in which you share KEY EVENTS about your experiences (understanding of yourself, your relationships, your surroundings) while critically analyzing the Science and Technology topics: automation, energy, medicine, media, environment.
Develop a concluding paragraph in which you suggest actions you will take as you move forward into Phase Four to develop the critical synthesis outline. (See Hope or Recommendation Conclusion model page 108).
