The Entity Relationship Diagram, also known as ERD, displays the relationship of entity sets stored in a database. In other words, ER diagrams help to explain the logical structure of databases. ER diagrams are created based on three basic concepts: entities, attributes, and relationships. ER Diagrams contain different symbols that use rectangles to represent entities, ovals to define attributes, and diamond shapes to represent relationships. ER diagrams typically debug design or relational databases in software marketing, business information systems, research, and education. So the order of a specific ER signal or using the I’erds example to paint the rectangles, ovals, and the fort, between the diamonds, is the case, the properties, and relationships. Maurya (2019) discussed the advantages of using ER diagrams: It provides a preview of how all tables should connect, what fields are going to be on each table, helps to describe entities, attributes, relationships, ER diagrams are translatable into relational tables which allows you to build databases quickly, can be used by database designers as a blueprint for implementing data in specific software applications, the database designer gains a better understanding of the information to be contained in the database with the help of ERP diagram, and ERD Diagram allows to communicate with the logical structure of the database to users. The logical database design is built by using easy-to-understand symbols and language to be easily examined and validated by end-users. Logical design works as a guide to be followed by developers and is used as a blueprint for the physical database model. Information provided in the logical database model describes the relational tables, entities, procedures, primary and foreign keys, and triggers.REPLY

“Entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs) are a logical representation of data that describes the relationships among entities and attributes” (Assignology, n.d.) and for those reasons, the below are benefits of using the Entity-relationship diagrams.
-Conceptual simplicity. If relationships between entities and attributes are known, an ERD can be quickly drawn.
-Explicit visual representation. The database structure can be easily comprehended after consulting the diagram.
-Communication effectiveness. Standard symbols representing different information facilitate understanding of the working of the database after completion.
-Immense flexibility. ER data model can be easily converted into any other data model with minor manipulations.
Below are disadvantages of using the ERD:
Limited relationship representation. The model is limited in relationships as compared to other data models.
No representation of data manipulation. The ways of showing data manipulation in ERD are comparatively intricate making the model find only limited use.
No industry standard for notation. The notation standards vary depending on the choice of a developer generating confusion while reading the diagrams.
Creating tables with rows and columns will get the message across, but that may not be the most easy to understand method. By using the ERD method, you can get the the same message used in tables across in a much more efficient manner. The visual representation allows you to understand the relationship as well as being more appealing to look at.

The most significant advantage of using ERD (Entity Relationship Diagram) is that it provides a visual representation of the layout (Maurya,2019). This diagram is to present the relation of the various tables present in a database. The ERD includes connectivity and cardinality notations, and can also show relationship strength, relationship participation (optional or mandatory), and degree of relationship (such as unary, binary, or ternary) (Coronel & Morris, 2017). Data that is presented in an organized manner and that is clearly titled and presented in tables ensures a smooth flow of information and communication. ERD’s are designed so that all individuals can understand them easily. Entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs) are vital components of corporate organizations because they are useful in organizing large amounts of data in a simple and straightforward manner (Maurya, 2019). Some disadvantages to ERD’s are that they are limited relationship representation. There is also no representation of data representation. The notation standards vary depending on the choice of a developer generating confusion while reading the diagrams (Assignology, n.d.). Why choose ERD’s? Because they can be quickly drawn, the database structure can be easily comprehended after consulting the diagram, Standard symbols representing different information facilitate understanding of the working of the database after completion and the data model can be converted to any other data model with minor manipulations.
