Assignment 4: Taking Action

This is an individual assignment. You are required to submit your assignment through D2L so that it can be checked by plagiarism-checking software.
Earlier in the course we discussed the role of the professional in society. We discussed how professionals with specific expertise can help society by lending their knowledge to help shape the polices of business and government, to influence how legislation is written and to protect individual rights.
In your third assignment, you identified an organization that was currently attempting to influence policy on an issue that you consider to be important. You were asked to identify their strategy and evaluate it.
In this assignment, you are required to take at least one significant step to assist the organization in achieving its goals, taking action as a knowledgeable professional to participate in shaping information technology policy.
Your action can take a number of forms. Examples include writing a letter or email and sending it to the appropriate recipients, making a phone call to discuss the issue with a company or legislative representative, signing a petition together with soliciting other signatures for a petition. It could be pledging some time to the organization to assist with their information security needs, programming or otherwise.
You will need to obtain instructor approval of your proposed action before proceeding. Depending on what method you choose, your submission will vary. For instance, if you make a phone call, you will need to record it and provide an audio file as your submission for this assignment.
