Connections Between Family History and Alcoholism
Critical Analysis #1: Find a peer-reviewed article on the topic that you have selected as your focus for this course.
Using the information in the Critical Analysis handout, write a two-page paper that analyzes the article.
Keep the following points in mind as required topics and use headings to organize the essay accordingly:
Give an overview of the article. (How long is it? Are there section headings? If so, what are they?
How long is the references page? What kind of documentation style is used? What other physical attributes do you see?)
What is the article’s purpose?
What sources are mentioned in the literature review?
Describe the research methodology.
Describe the data collected, including any notes on analysis.
Critical Analysis #2: Select a peer-reviewed article from the references of the source used in the first Critical Analysis paper.
Follow the same plan as in Critical Analysis #1, using the questions above to help you focus and organize the content of your essay. Critical Analysis #3:
This paper will shift gears slightly by asking you to find an alternate media source that presents information from one of your topic experts.
For instance, you might find a podcast that interviews your selected expert, or you might find a TV interview. Perhaps your expert has given a Ted Talk or has made a YouTube video.
There are two requirements to keep in mind for source selection in this case:
You must identify an expert from your ongoing research and select a media source that presents information from that expert.
The media source you select must be freely accessible without restriction behind a paywall or other barrier.
