Task:
3000 word essay providing critical analysis on the learning derived from the course to date and relate this to prospective application for SWE registration.
Introduction
Part 1 – Discuss and analyze an ethical dilemma that you have experienced on practice placement.
You need to show understanding of the concept of an ‘ethical dilemma’ – what does this mean?
Then you need to choose an ethical dilemma from your practice placement experience and analyze it.
What was the ethical dilemma?
How did it make you think and feel?
What was the conflict about?
How did you work through it? What did you do to resolve it?
How did you work in line with organisational procedures and the professional standards?
Part 2 – Discuss and analyze an example of reflexivity on your practice placement
You need to show an understanding of critical reflection and reflexivity.
Then choose an experience/ contact/ meeting with a service user and show the process of using critical reflection and reflexivity during your experience/ contact/ meeting with them.
Part 3 – Discuss and analyze the impact of change in and on social work and reflect on your development of professional resilience
You need to show an understanding of professional resilience.
Then choose an example of a change that happened whilst you have been on the degree that has affected social work.
This can be:A change that happened on placement – for example, to the funding for the organisation, the staff team, the legislation and procedures.
A change that happened in relation to your professional development – for example, as a Level 6 student – coping with a busier caseload, working with greater risk.
A wider change that has affected social work – for example, COVID 19 pandemic, Black Lives Matter movement.
Analyze how these changes have impacted on your as a social work student and the strategies you have used to develop professional resilience in the social work role.
