Utilizing information presented in this course, as well as theoretical and practical elements from academic and Christian sources, you will compile an original research paper consisting of two primary parts:
1. A summary of your understanding of the nature and causes of trauma in general
(approximately ~750 words), and
2. The detailed nature, effects, and crisis response strategy for immediate intervention for the specific type of trauma chosen (COMBAT TRAUMA).
You must address factors necessary for successfully coping with the effects of trauma, and spiritual and professional approaches to treatment. You can cover researched-based treatment strategies that work long term, but the primary importance is first on the immediate intervention upon arriving at the scene or being called within 24–48 hours following the event (natural disaster, terrorist attack, car accident, bank robbery), or discovery of the event (child abuse, domestic violence, etc.) Combat trauma is a topic that can also be covered that would not necessarily fall within the 24–48 hours.
