Write a 500 word response piece using a minimum of 5 academic references to discuss a sample of material culture relating to South Asia from the 1600’s to 2021 . Double spaced , 12 point font minimum.
What are examples of material culture?
Material culture, tools, weapons, utensils, machines, ornaments, art, buildings, monuments, written records, religious images, clothing, and any other ponderable objects produced or used by humans. If all the human beings in the world ceased to exist, nonmaterial aspects of culture would cease to exist along with them.
What is a response piece?
As opposed to a formal primary source analysis where you are discouraged from using the first person narrative “I”, in a response piece you are expected to write about your personal response. However, you must use informed opinion and you must demonstrate that by connecting your responses to academic literature. So, for instance if you feel a porcelain vase from the 1850’s is a fine example of Bengali ceramic ware, you must cite a reference that tells us what Bengali ceramic ware was and how quality was judged.
