Opera Assignment Instructions
Write a 175-word response based on an opera. Choose one from the following list of short operas below with English subtitles. Give your subjective personal response as well as objective information about the performance. Try to incorporate concepts and terminology that you have learned in the class. You do not need to use information from outside sources.
Your response should answer the following questions:
How does the music relate to the story?
What does the music sound like?
What are the different ways that music is presented in this opera?
Be sure to balance discussion of plot/character issues with discussion of the music itself.
