You will be asked to prepare an A3 report for the analysis of a problem this organization is currently encountering. For this module’s capstone milestone, you need to begin creating the A3 report.
Use the information you have collected from the organization’s website, the field trip, course resources, and any additional research to to create the first couple parts of your A3 report (Problem Definition, Background and Goals, and Current State).
Formulate a problem statement
Create visual representations (graphs, charts, etc) to communicate why this is a problem. Display relevant metrics for quality, cost, lead time, and safety.
Create a value stream map (or other appropriate graphic to display current state) for the process that will be improved. Include cycle time, lead time, takt time, and throughput time.
Your A3 report can be completed with paper and pencil or using Microsoft Excel or Word. Typically, in the real world paper/pencil preferred as it is a working document. Materials such as colored pencils, tape, A3 paper, and scissors will be provided in class.
