Summative assignment: Patchwork Essay
The summative assignment for this module is a “Patchwork” essay. This means you develop your assignment by completing 5 short writing activities or “patches”.
These will be submitted together, as one single document via Canvas on the day directed.
Successful completion of this assignment demonstrates your knowledge and understanding of the core module themes and learning outcomes.
Completing each patch?
The description of the content required for each patch is detailed below.
Patch 1
Review one research article that explores the values and/or ethical principles involved in the promotion of self-management for people living with one or more long term conditions.
Patch 2
Discuss the leadership role of the healthcare professional in promoting and facilitating self-management in people with long term conditions.
Patch 3
With reference to a chosen long-term condition, describe the key principles of drug action, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
Patch 4
Describe one national policy/framework which supports the effective long-term management of physical and/or psychological health for people living with one or more long-term conditions.
Patch 5
The final patch is a summary of the first 4 patches. The content/summary for this final patch should draw the main connections and themes together from Patches 1-4 and clearly highlight how this new knowledge might inform or be applied to your professional and/or clinical practice.
Important
Each patch should be 500 words (+/- 10%).
Patches 1-4 should be clearly supported by evidence/references from the wider literature.
Patch 5 is a summary and does not require evidence/references from the wider literature.
Total word count for all 5 patches together is 2500 words (+/- 10%).
Reference list is not included in the final word count.
